Distribution of Ration Bags & Hygiene kits
Under the current circumstances, the lowest strata of the society, comprising of daily wage workers, construction workers, contract laborers, street vendors have been the worst hit. These groups have lost the only source of their income and have no means to make ends meet or provide food for their families. Hape Development and welfare Association is a United Nations accredited NGO. Hape Development and welfare Association Provide of ration bags, groceries, and other hygiene products to underprivileged families in various villages of Taluka Matli District Badin. Our team’s mission is simple – no one should have to sleep hungry. A community-driven initiative that is supported by the local philanthropists and HAPE members, the bags are filled with essential food items, such as rice, milk, flour, biscuits and oil, which are separately packed for families.
More than 800 packets have been given to people since hape started this welfare service in March.
In the beginning, Hape received contributions from three or four philanthropists, but now nearly 50 community members are donating the foodstuff. Hape is also contributing from members end, though Hape is not accepting any cash.
The family packs weigh around 20 kilograms and the ration is enough to last for 10 to 15 days.
Distribution of Hygiene kits
Hape distributed 100 hygiene kits to the residents of 12 goths near Matli. Each hygiene kit made with reusable bags contained 10 masks, 1 sanitizer, a nail cutter and 3 soaps for the families. Hape briefed the residents of each goth about COVID-19 and how they can keep themselves safe.
Need Assessment & Networking
With the directive of District Government Hape conducted need assessment in Matli city, Tando Ghulam Ali City and Union council Thari District Badin for emergency Rashan Program and Pakistan Ahsaas Program. The main focus of this assessment was to identify most vulnerable eligible households & type of economic activity/ support/ inputs that are needed to revive. During the survey identified about 5000 poor families and reported to District government.
Networking with Government Department
Networking with government departments including District Health Department, Education Department, Social Welfare Department and District Government to eliminate COVID-19 through peoples’ participation.
Awareness Session about Coronavirus
Hape Development and welfare Association aims to create safe spaces (community centers) in low-income communities wherein residents of these communities can access learning opportunities, irrespective of their age, gender or occupation.
Hape Development and welfare Association arranged awareness sessions in 2 Union councils and conducted 16 sessions about coronavirus. The ‘Covid Preparedness for Remote Communities’ program is aimed at generating awareness about the Covid-19 crisis and prepares community members with the correct knowledge and ensure the villages have all the necessary health and hygiene essentials needed to combat the disease.
Education in Pandemic
With the support of Sindh Education Foundation, Hape Development and welfare Association is preparing a massive in-School awareness campaign across 24 villages of Taluka Talhar and Matli District Badin. Distribute Home work and Vacation Work among 1180 Students. The programs include value education sessions, sessions on academic support to help prepare for school examinations and extra-curricular activities. Hape have also started online English Communicative Programme for the kids from the urban slums who are missing out on their classes in the schools
Attend Virtual International Meetings
While the coronavirus pandemic set off a sweeping cancellation of in-person conferences and seminars across sectors, Social sector players are now hosting a dizzying array of online events to deliver much-needed in a rapidly changing landscape. Hape team has been attending various national and International meetings with UNO agencies, INGOs and NGO. Hape shared current condition, issue and suggestions.
